After two EPs that shaked down the sound systems Heavy This Year (2013) and Diskodub (2014) and various collaborations with Chinese Man, DJ Vadim and Manu Digital, Taiwan MC returns greater than ever with his first LP Cool & Deadly!
For this new record Taiwan MC rivals the best and draws on his singular creativity by making use of innovative vocals, instrumentals and fresh collaborations.
Already surrounded by many great artists since Heavy This Year, Taiwan MC once again stressed on the quality and diversity of his featurings: thanks to the strong bonding established during several tours, the South-African rapper Tumi and the most Frenchy of all English MCs, Youthstar, responded to the invitation without hesitating. Adding to the list are Cyph4, Miscellaneous (Chill Bump), Dj Nix’on, DJ Idem and, of course, Chinese Man.
Impossible to go unnoticed is the presence of female voices that bring to the album an undeniable sensuality. As a perfect gentleman, Taiwan MC gives the leading roles to Anouk Aiata and Paloma Pradal, whose title Catalina – an explosive mixture of dancehall, global bass and reggaeton – will be the first single from the album.
For the production of Cool & Deadly, Taiwan MC called once again on his loyal partner, the talented S.O.A.P (aka Son Of A Pitch who has worked with Oxmo Puccino, Féfé and Ward 21). He is now a master of keyboards and all things instrumental: saxophone, melodica, organ… all brilliantly mingled with the percussion of Marc Pujol, the bass & guitars of Matthieu Seignez as well as the brass of Mr Raf and Brice Moscardini.
With Cool & Deadly, Taiwan MC produces a well-rounded opus by combining subtle flavors of hip-hop reggae, dub and electronic music. He shows us the full extent of his vocal capacities, alternately singer, MC, entertainer… and proves once again his true talent as a performer.
