The reggae festival’s gate will open on Sunday 14th anticipating the pre-party of Aug. 15th

Overjam International Reggae Festival, the Italian-Slovenian event at its fifth edition will be held August 16-19 (pre-party on the 15th and an after party on the 20th), in Tolmin, Slovenia. Thanks to the pre sale, available till August 10th, the audience’s increased by 30% from 17 different countries: Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland. The Netherlands, UK and USA.

Music will rule the roosts as usual, no stop, more than 100 artists on multiple stages. On the main stage, the Yellow Stage, Tuesday 16th will be the day of Marcia Griffiths, Mungo’s Hi FI with Solo Banton and Lion D; on the 17th the baton will pass to Tarrus Riley, Dean Fraser and Alaine, furthermore the Italians Wicked Dub Division and the Serbians Mad Red; the 18th it’s Kabaka Pyramid’s turn followed by Cali P, Soom T and Earth Beat Movement; the last night grand show with the legendary The Congos, followed by Virtus from Rome, Stylo G and Assassin aka Agent Sasco.

After the shows the music will continue till sunrise on the stages along the river which are dedicated to dub (Green Stage) and dancehall (Red Stage) with sounds and selectors as Jamie Rodigan (son of Sir David), the Japanese Yardbeat, King Earthquake, Asher Selector, Bizzarri Sound, Iniman from Caveman Sound, Dubapest, Fleck, Parly B, Moa Anbessa, Roots in Session, Rakka, I-Shence and many more.

This year’s new feature will let us enjoy the best music during the day too, thanks to Jamcoast, a dedicated spot on the beautiful beach where every day from 11am various sounds will be hosted by Freedom Fighters.

It’s not all about music! The Overjam University is confirmed once again as the space devoted to discussion and reflection, and this year will host four meetings:

  • 16th: “Gender roles in contemporary Slovenian society”, with the collective Rdeče Zero‘s representatives;
  • 17th:  “Hemp seeds” with the Slovenian organization Hemp Chef;
  • 18th: “Sociology of war – why do we fight?”, Along with the historian Diego Han of the Croatian Centre of historical research, a century since the beginning of the Great War, in a territory that was involved;
  • 19th: “How to create integration through food” with Chef Rubio: eclectic, independent and unconventional, he will speak from his grill to share his wandering-chef experience and to talk about the ‘Good food’ as integration and conviviality among people as well as a paradigm of social inclusion accessible to all, without distinction.

Workshops on the beach also confirmed: yoga, capoeira, handcrafts, music, percussion, hemp jewellery, juggling, slack line and dancehall; while in the space dedicated to children, Overjam4kidz, you’ll find many multilingual activities: gymnastics, games, workshops, dancehall and so on.

Many the services with which Overjam takes care of his audience: market, international food stalls, bathrooms and showers accessible for disabled, free drinking water points, rental of ear defenders to protect the little ones from the noise, merchandise, ATM and more. Inside the camping area – free for anyone who purchased the festival ticket – you can find an info point, a place to charge your mobile phone and connect to free WiFi; dogs are allowed (not in the festival area).

Tickets are on sale on the official website overjamfestival.com and in over 400 points of sale, pre sale at the discounted price of € 89 until August 10, door ticket will cost € 105; day tickets at € 25 on pre sale and € 30 at the door; children under 12 and companions for the disabled: free admission.

The festival is accessible by train (50% discount for those who buy a festival ticket and train ticket from Slovenian railways) or by bus thanks to the connections with the nearest Italian airports (Bergamo, Verona, Treviso and Ronchi dei Legionari) and the train station in Gorizia, but also from Switzerland and France.
