DubMarta presents her album Island Wave, a musical journey from the last few years of the Italian singer and bassist living between Naples and London. The island is the recurring theme which gave the name to the album, intended both as a geographical place and, in a more imaginative way, as an intimate space to create and reflect.

Marta Riccardi has written and produced all the tracks, writing music, lyrics and arrangements. The nine songs on Island Wave have been written on an island or inspired by an experience lived on it. Her lyrics deal with personal experiences, both sentimental and related to the meditative sphere and personal growth, reflections on social relationships, but also current issues, such as global warming. The vocal melodies and harmonies, inspired by reggae sounds with a strong soul component, are supported by a roots reggae base, with elements of stepper sound system and above all dub, both thanks to the mix and the minimalist production of some songs, with sounds inspired by UK dub.

The album, recorded between London, Birmingham and Naples, has been mixed by Paolo Baldini DubFiles, who has also signed a dub version of This Is My Home, and features Pier Paolo Polcari (Almamegretta) on piano, synthesizers, and additional production of some songs, and Dougie Conscious (Conscious Sounds) with the dub mix of Revolution.

Teased by the singles This Is My Home and Walking in the Jungle, Island Wave is available on digital platforms. A limited edition 12” vinyl will be released at the end of November.
